The well-organized governmental structure of Sonoma County provides the many citizens of the county with the important services they need to live a happy, healthy, and secure life in this pretty Northern California region.
The seat of Sonoma government is in Santa Rosa, the largest city in Sonoma County. Here you'll find the majority of the county's governmental offices, including health and human services, transportation, tax/treasurer, emergency services, parks and recreation, public works, and more. Santa Rosa is within easy reach of most parts of the county if you need to travel there to access any particular services that require a personal visit.
The other incorporated cities of Sonoma each boast their own government of elected officials. These towns include Petaluma, Healdsburg, Rohnert Park, Cloverdale, Cotati, Sebastopol, Sonoma, and Windsor. Most have mayors or other designated supervisors or council members that oversee the goings-on in the town and assist residents with concerns. Smaller unincorporated cities or census-designated places are under the auspices of the county government.
