About Jenner
The coastal town of Jenner is a mostly residential Sonoma County town that lies where the creek in Jenner Gulch meets the Russian River just before it empties into the vast Pacific Ocean. Scenic Highway 1 runs through the town, which boasts a population of just a few hundred residents. Jenner is a typical small town with a community club that sponsors weekly classes and events and runs the Jenner Visitors' Center, providing information on the Northern California Coast for guests who make a stop in this friendly town. Jenner's location near the Russian River and the Pacific Ocean means that visitors can enjoy a number of watersports here including fishing, kayaking, skin and scuba diving, and abalone diving as well. Head to Stillwater Cove Regional Park, one of the prime locations for all these Jenner activities. You'll also find picnic areas, room for riding your bike, a short hiking trail, and individual campsites in this 210-acre park. The town is also home to Fort Ross State Historic Park, once the southernmost settlement in the Russian colonization of the North American continent, established as an agricultural base to supply Alaska. Historians note that Fort Ross was the site of California's first windmills and early shipbuilding facilities. Today, guests can visit the historic chapel and several other reconstructed buildings including the stockade and barracks. Jenner lodging includes a few small B&Bs and country inns and some campsites, all with picturesque water views. If you want to grab a meal while in town, Jenner restaurants are few but you'll find a handful of places that offer a snack or full-course meal.
