About Sea Ranch
Sea Ranch is a coastal community located 100 miles north of San Francisco along stunning ocean bluffs and rugged beaches. It has become a popular vacation destination, though the majority of lodging available for visitors is rental homes. There are 300 full-time residents of Sea Ranch, but the majority of the roughly 1,800 homes in the town are second homes rented out to weekend guests.
Sea Ranch’s coastal location among the redwoods is an un-manicured delight for visitors interested in exploring its secluded inlets and forest trails. There are six access points to the beach along Route 1 near Sea Ranch, including Gualala Point Regional Park. The town itself is notable for its unique buildings designed and laid out so that they would not detract from the surrounding beauty. Homes are simple, wooden structures that are considered a mixture of vernacular and modern architecture that has become known as the “Third Bay Tradition” or the “Sea Ranch Style.” Condominium One received the American Institute of Architects Twenty-Five Year Award in 1991 and was included on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
