About Fulton
Fulton is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the central part of Sonoma County about half way between Santa Rosa and Healdsburg along Highway 101. This means that the CDP is situated in the heart of wine country. It is said that no matter which way you turn out of Fulton, you will find a winery. This and its easy access from the highway makes Fulton a popular stop for visitors touring Sonoma’s world-renowned vineyards and wineries. Not only is the Russian River Valley close by, so are Alexander Valley and Dry Creek. The specialties of these areas are pinot noirs and chardonnays that make even the most discerning pallet sing.
Fulton is also a wonderful place from which to explore the area’s phenomenal redwood forests. The Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve has a large network of trails that lend themselves to hiking, biking and horseback riding. They take visitors amongst the giant trees, through meadows, along deep ravines and to mountain overlooks that provide stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. If one day isn’t enough time to spend in this splendid natural setting, campsites are available. The nearby Pacific coastline also provides an abundance of opportunities for enjoying water sports.
