About Cloverdale

Located just 85 miles north of San Francisco, Cloverdale prides itself in staying firmly rooted in the small town culture that has given it a uniquely laidback vibe. Life moves at a slower pace here and local characters that seem to have jumped out of the pages of a Jan Karon novel abound.

Visitors, however, should not be lulled into believing that Cloverdale doesn’t have anything to offer besides quaint charm. Those who would like to while away the day on a bed & breakfast porch can definitely do so, but there is much to do for those looking to do some exploring. Of course Cloverdale’s most popular attractions are its wineries and vineyards. The closest ones worth visiting are BobDog Wines, Cellar No. 8, Fritz Underground Winery and Souverain. Not only are the wines fabulous, the scenery is breathtaking. For the most active visitors, the gorgeous rolling hills surrounding Cloverdale make for rewarding bicycle rides.

After a day of strenuous biking or wine tasting, the best way to relax and enjoy a meal in one of Cloverdale’s charming dining establishments. Although Piacere Ristorante Italiano is a wonderful five-star restaurant, the rest of the town’s dining options are delightfully low-key local hang outs. Two of the oldest and most charismatic locales are Mary’s Pizza Shack and Pick’s Drive In.
