About Cazadero
Tiny Cazadero is located in the western part of Sonoma County near Jenner, Sea Ranch and Guerneville. The town’s downtown area consists of a few private homes, two churches, a post office, general store, hardware store, volunteer fire department and auto repair shop. It is a prime example of true small town California.
Despite its small size, Cazadero is still worth a visit. Often called the “Land of Redwoods and Rain,” its forests are home to a wide variety of plants and animals. Hikers will love the hush of the town’s damp forests primarily made up of redwoods, oaks and bay trees. The forests’ inhabitants include mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, wild boars, deer, beavers and a host of smaller mammals. Birders will find a diverse array of species that include the Steller’s jay, common raven, great blue heron, humming birds, the great egret and woodpeckers. The town’s close proximity to the Russian River Valley also provides guests with some great fishing, canoeing and kayaking opportunities.
Although Cazadero is pretty removed from the crowds of visitors who come to sample Sonoma County’s fabulous wines, the town does have its own attraction for wine lovers – Flower Vineyard and Winery. There are also a few restaurants in town, but Guerneville is the best place to look for nearby lodging.

Cazadero California Information
Cazadero calls itself the "Land of Redwoods and Rain." In the midst of Sonoma County's redwood forest, the closest larger city is Guerneville, about 12 miles away, where most visitors find lodging and restaurants. The town occupies a narrow strip of land in Austin Canyon. Cazadero was originally a hunting resort known as "Ingrams" but the name was changed in 1888.
Cazadero often receives more than 100 inches of rain from October through April. Nonetheless, it's a wonderful place for nature lovers as the flora and fauna here and around Austin Creek is diverse. Proximity to the Russian River Valley also allows for fun watersports like canoeing or fishing when the weather is dry. Cazadero residents are currently raising money for a museum and community center.
Guests can enjoy a few small Cazadero restaurants but Guerneville is often the city of choice for lodging.
