For over a century, Boyes Hot Springs has been a destination for San Franciscans looking to soak in the soothing, and some think to be medicinal – waters of the town’s springs. Although the rush of tourists has declined since the middle of the 1900s, the Valley of the Moon Commuter Club still provides an express service from San Francisco to the town.

Boyes Hot Springs offers everything that Sonoma County’s other towns do – a wealth of exception wineries, delicious cuisine and stunning views. The geothermic activity of the town is what sets it apart from the others. Visitors come here to combine the restorative powers of the hot springs with the relaxing wine tasting experience provided by the dozens of wineries and vineyards in the surrounding area. Trips to the Sonoma and Jack London State Historic Parks also provide some excellent biking, hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Boyes Hot Springs also has the Larson Regional Park, which has so tennis courts, sports facilities, picnic tables and a playground perfect for a simple family outing.

Native Americans used the hot springs for bathing, cooking, ceremonies and medicinal treatments. Boyes Hot Springs is named after the British captain, H.E. Boyes who built a bathhouse over a 112 degree spring at the turn of the century. His bathhouse is now the site of the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa.

A visit to Boyes Hot Springs - a town of about 6,500 residents - puts guests in the center of the pretty Sonoma Valley, surrounded by dozens upon dozens of Northern California's best wineries. Additional Boyes Hot Springs activities include visits to the neighboring towns of Sonoma and Glen Ellen, with trips to the many parks located there, including Sonoma and Jack London State Historic Parks, where you can view historic sites or enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation including biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Local Larson Regional Park also offers tennis courts, sports fields, a playground, and plenty of picnic tables.

The town of Boyes Hot Springs gets its name from British captain H.E. Boyes who acquired the property around the turn of the 20th century and discovered a 112 degree spring around which he built a bathhouse. He soon opened a hotel, which became popular with wealthy San Francisco residents who came for the water's curative properties. On the same sight today sits the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa, offering spa treatments and dips in the same waters.

Boyes Hot Springs lodging includes the local historic inn as well as a few other small inns or lodges. The inns also boast a few excellent Boyes Hot Springs restaurants and a handful of additional small local eateries are available as well.
